The Juliard Desk
General Assignment Desk
The desk is where stories go when no one can prove a chair did not assign them.
It began as an empty workstation reserved for late copy, then developed a preference for neutral verbs. Staff still leave tips there overnight and return to find them sorted by urgency, tone, and whether the envelope had been breathing.

Working Theory
The Desk believes anonymity is not secrecy. It is the sound a newsroom makes while locating the correct witness, sharpening the passive voice, and waiting for the phone to finish becoming evidence.
