Meal Plan

Tuesday does not need to be convinced.

Lenora Brine published a five-day freezer meal plan Saturday for households that have given up on Tuesday but would still like Wednesday to find dishes in the sink.

The plan uses frozen peas, potato flakes, tamarind paste, miso, roasted vegetables, and one casserole that appears to have accepted more about the week than anyone else.

"Freezer cooking is not optimism," Brine said. "It is storage with a pulse."

The Plan

Monday begins with the cleanest bowl: peas, miso, herbs, and rice if the household still believes in rice. Tuesday receives the casserole because Tuesday has already stopped negotiating.

Wednesday becomes soup. Thursday is potato flakes with tamarind and a vegetable that can withstand being described as bright. Friday is the remaining bowl, served with enough garnish to imply intention.

Prep

Cool everything fully before freezing. Hot food placed directly into the freezer may raise the emotional temperature of nearby items, especially waffles.

Use shallow containers when possible. Deep containers create commitment, and commitment has already done enough to the week.

Serving

Reheat until the food loosens its grip on the container. Serve with water, a fork, and permission not to discuss Tuesday at the table.
